Christ Lutheran Church

We extend a welcome invitation to join us in the worship of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

You Are God's Treasure!

August 1, 2017

Deuteronomy 7:6

For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.

Our kids love sparkly things! So, of course, I had to include shiny sequins and glitter in today's craft. Who doesn't love sparkly treasure? First, the coloring page I used came from a website called Coolest Free Printables (link to the original picture: ), but I added the text. Here is the page that our kids colored and glued decorations to:

While they were busy creating their treasure, we talked about what they had that they loved, and was precious to them. I love asking open ended questions, to get everyone involved in the discussion. The dialog I wrote:

After everyone shared what their treasure was, I continued with the lesson above. Then, I pulled out the foam picture frames. I wrote "I am God's Treasure" on each of them, and let each child decorate the frame with all the confetti that they wanted. The package of a dozen frames was $5, and a small package of assorted confetti and sequins was $2, both from Walmart. Once they add a photo of themselves, they will always be reminded about how much they are loved by God. Here is an example of the one my daughter did (just don't tell her sister that I used her photo!)

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me.” (Matthew 19:14) This is at the center of our Youth Ministry. It’s a blessing to us to be able to teach our kids the love of Christ. From biblical lessons each week to local mission work, our goal is to equip the next generation of Christians to be servants of God.

We are proud to participate in Samaritan's Purse's Operation Christmas Child (OCC) each year. Items are collected throughout the year, and we have a fundraiser to help purchase special things to pack into shoe boxes. Then we have a pizza party while putting it all together! This mission has been a great blessing to many children around the world, and our kids have been thrilled to be a part of it.

We will resume classes in September!
Enjoy your summer.

On the 1st and 3rd Sundays (Communion Sundays), the Pastor will have a special story for the kids.

On non-Communion Sundays, the kids are invited to go to a special class during the church service to do a craft/activity with a lesson.
